Lima, Peru is quickly becoming the gateway for many airlines to fly to and from South America.

From Lima you can fly direct to nearly anywhere in North, Central, or South America. Lima is the hub for air travel on South America’s Pacific coast.

Here’s is a breakdown of every airline that flies in and out of Jorge Chavez International airport in Callao, twenty minutes form downtown Lima and about thirty minutes from the tourist center of Miraflores.

North American Airlines that fly to Lima, Peru

Spirit Airlines - Spirit airlines launched service between Lima, Peru and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in June of 2007. Flights have been found for as little as $40 each way with taxes, although $250 each way with taxes is more common. Lima is the only South American destination Spirit flies to.

Air Canada - Air Canada has flights between Toronto and Lima, that often stop in Atlanta.

American Airlines - American flies direct to Miami and has connecting flights across the United States.

Delta - Delta airlines recently added a second daily flight between Lima’s airport and their hub in Atlanta.

Continental - Continental flies direct to Houston from Lima. You can sometimes find a lower rate if you travel with Copa Airlines on Continental planes, although a stop in Panama City is likely.

South and Central American Airlines that fly to Lima, Peru

AeroPostal - Apart from Spirit, Aeropostal has the cheapest one way flights to Miami, all of which will go through to Caracas. The flights depart just after midnight and run several times per week. From Caracas you can also fly cheaply to Havana, Cuba, Aruba, or other Caribbean destinations.

Copa Airlines - The Panamanian air carrier Copa has direct service between Lima and Panama City, sometimes stopping in San Jose or Guayaquil depending on the flight. Copa offers some of the lowest fares between Lima and the US as well. Connecting flights in Panama City can fly to Houston, Texas with Continental.

LAN airlines - LAN has the most flights to and from Lima, Peru. LAN flies direct to Santiago, Chile, locations in Brazil and Argentina, Quito and Guayaquil, Miami, Newark, and several destinations in Central America. LAN also has the most domestic flights within Peru, so if you want to head to Cusco and skip Lima altogether, LAN is a good option.

LAB - Lloyd Aero Boliviano, or LAB, has direct service between Lima and the Bolivian cities of La Paz and Santa Cruz.

TACA - The Costa Rican air carrier has made Lima it’s South American hub. Flights go direct to Sao Paolo, Santiago, Guayaquil, San Jose, San Salvador and Miami.

Avianca - The Colombian airline has direct flights to Bogota and to destinations in Central America from Lima

European Airlines that fly to Lima, Peru

KLM - KLM launched a direct service between Lima and Amsterdam, Holland, the longest direct flight from Lima.

Air France - French air carrier Air France offers direct service between Lima and Paris, with connecting flights across Europe.

Air Madrid, Iberia, and Air Comet - These airlines all offer flights between Lima and Madrid, Spain.

British Airways - Flights may stop in the US, however, also fly direct to London from Lima.
